Short answer: Whether you can find MCT oil at Kruidvat, a drugstore chain in the Netherlands and Belgium, varies by store and over time, so check the app or kruidvat.nl first. Kruidvat.nl currently lists, among others, our Organic MCT C8 Oil. Wherever you buy, the label decides what you get: check whether it contains only C8 or a mix of C8 and C10, which plant the oil comes from, whether it carries the EU organic logo with a control code, and what you pay per tablespoon.

Looking for MCT oil at Kruidvat or online? Makes sense: you want to know where to buy it and what matters. We sell MCT oil ourselves, so we are not completely neutral. That is why we don't name other brands or prices, but give you a checklist that works in any shop, including ours. What MCT oil is and what research is about, you can read in what is MCT oil.

Does Kruidvat sell MCT oil?

Yes, you'll find MCT oil on kruidvat.nl, including our Organic MCT C8 Oil (November 2026). Whether a product is also in your local store, and which other MCT oils there are, varies by store and over time. Search the app or website for "MCT olie", "MCT C8" and "caprylzuur" (caprylic acid), and check on the product page whether it is sold in your store or only online.

You'll also find MCT oil at other drugstores, health food shops, sports shops and online stores. It is the same kind of oil everywhere, but exactly what is in the bottle differs by brand. That is why the label matters more than the shop.

What should you look for when buying MCT oil?

Look at what is in the bottle, where it comes from and what you pay per serving. These points tell you more than the name on the front.

What do you check? Where do you see it? Why?
C8, C10 or a mix Product name, nutrition or product information "MCT oil" on its own is often a mix of C8 and C10
Plant source Ingredient list Coconut or palm kernel should be stated
Organic EU organic logo with control code The word "organic" alone doesn't say enough
Contents and serving Contents in ml and directions for use Needed to work out the price per tablespoon
Packaging Bottle and cap Glass or plastic, and how easy it is to measure
Extra ingredients Ingredient list Pure MCT oil has one, powders and flavoured versions more

C8 or C8/C10

MCT oil consists of medium-chain fatty acids, mainly C8 (caprylic acid) and C10 (capric acid). If the bottle only says "MCT oil", it is often a mix. If you want pure C8, check whether the C8 percentage is stated, or ask. The difference and what studies say about it is covered in C8 or C10 MCT oil: what is the difference?

Coconut or palm

MCT oil is made from coconut oil or palm kernel oil. In the EU, the ingredient list must state which plant a vegetable oil comes from (Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex VII). If that matters to you, check whether it says "coconut".

Organic

You recognise organic MCT oil by the EU organic logo. The code of the control body and the origin of the raw materials ("EU Agriculture" or "non-EU Agriculture") must also be on the pack. The logo may only be used on products with at least 95 percent organic ingredients (European Commission).

Oil or powder

Besides oil, there is MCT powder. That is MCT oil on a carrier, such as a fibre or starch, so you can scoop it. So there is less MCT per gram than in pure oil. Check the ingredient list and nutrition table for how much fat there is per serving.

Drugstore, health food shop or online store: what suits you?

That depends on what matters to you: convenience, choice or information about the product.

Where? Handy if Watch out for
Drugstore, such as Kruidvat You're there anyway, or want it delivered with your other order The range varies per store; check online whether the product is in the shop
Health food or sports shop You want advice in the shop Bottle sizes differ, compare the price per tablespoon
Brand's own online store You want to see or request the fatty acid profile, origin and analysis Shipping costs and delivery time

How much does MCT oil cost per tablespoon?

Work it out yourself, because prices change and bottles differ in size. Divide the price of the bottle by the number of tablespoons in it. Like on our label, we count 12 ml per tablespoon:

  1. Divide the contents in ml by 12. A 500 ml bottle holds about 41 tablespoons.
  2. Divide the price of the bottle by that number of tablespoons.
  3. Compare that price per tablespoon between shops and brands, and keep C8 or C8/C10 and organic in mind.

Our directions are 1 to 3 tablespoons a day. A 500 ml bottle then lasts about 2 weeks (3 tablespoons a day) to 6 weeks (1 tablespoon a day). Using it for the first time? Start with less and build up slowly, because MCT oil can cause stomach complaints if you take a lot at once. When it is best to take MCT oil, you can read in when to take MCT oil.

Which MCT oil do we sell?

According to the ingredient list, our Organic MCT C8 Oil consists of 100% organic MCT oil C8 from coconut oil, without palm oil. In the fatty acid analysis by an external laboratory of our raw material batch from January 2025, it contained 99.2% caprylic acid (C8) and 0.7% capric acid (C10). According to the certificate of analysis, the oil is made by fractional distillation, without chemicals.

Summary in 3 points

  • Whether Kruidvat has MCT oil varies by store and over time. Kruidvat.nl lists, among others, our Organic MCT C8 Oil; check the app for your local store.
  • Check the label: C8 or C8/C10 with percentages, coconut or palm, the EU organic logo with control code, and whether it contains only MCT oil.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kruidvat have MCT C8 oil?

In November 2026, kruidvat.nl lists, among others, our Organic MCT C8 Oil. The range in stores varies per branch. Search the app for "MCT C8" and check whether the product is sold online or in store.

Is MCT oil from a drugstore the same as from an online store?

That depends on the product, not the shop. Compare C8 or C8/C10, the source, the organic logo and the contents. Only then look at the price per tablespoon.

What is the difference between MCT oil and MCT powder?

MCT powder is MCT oil on a carrier, such as a fibre or starch. It is easy to scoop, but you get less MCT per gram than with pure oil. Oil usually has just one ingredient on the label.

Is MCT oil the same as coconut oil?

No. Coconut oil contains only a few percent C8 and C10 and consists mainly of lauric acid (C12). MCT oil is the purified part with the medium-chain fatty acids. That is why it is liquid and neutral in taste.

How many tablespoons are in a 500 ml bottle of MCT oil?

About 41, counting 12 ml per tablespoon. At 1 to 3 tablespoons a day, it lasts about 2 to 6 weeks.
