More about Oils

Looking to buy oils? At GOYU you'll find two kinds of oil, each with its own purpose. MCT oil goes into your coffee, shake or salad. Our skin oils are cosmetic oils for external use on skin and hair. All our oils are vegan and made of a single ingredient. Our MCT oil and castor oil are organic.

MCT oil or skin oil: which one are you looking for?

  • MCT oil: our MCT C8 oil consists of 100% caprylic acid (C8) from organic coconuts. Clear, odourless and neutral in taste, and it stays liquid, even in the fridge. You use it in coffee, tea, smoothies, yoghurt or over a salad. 500 ml glass bottle.
  • Skin oils: cold-pressed plant oils for face, body and hair, such as castor oil from the seeds of the castor oil plant. On that page we put castor oil, argan oil and jojoba oil side by side.

In your food or on your skin: the main difference

MCT oil is a food supplement: you take it, for example in your coffee. According to the label you use 1 to 3 tablespoons a day. Start with a small amount, such as a teaspoon, and build up slowly. Our skin oils are cosmetics. They are for external use only, so they are not meant to be swallowed or used for cooking. Don't mix them up: always check the label.

Organic and cold-pressed: what does it mean?

Organic means the raw material comes from organic farming. That applies to our MCT oil (the coconuts) and our castor oil (the seeds). Cold-pressed means the oil is pressed mechanically from the seeds or kernels without adding heat. Our skin oils are cold-pressed and 100% pure: the bottle contains only the oil itself. MCT oil is made in a different way. Only the C8 fatty acid, caprylic acid, is taken from coconut oil. Read how it differs from C10 in MCT C8 vs C10: what is the difference?.

How do you use a skin oil?

The label of our skin oils says: 2 to 3 drops on cleansed skin, 3 to 5 drops into your hair or scalp, and 1 to 2 drops on your eyebrows or lashes in the evening, using a clean brush. Avoid contact with your eyes, keep the bottle out of reach of children and stop if your skin becomes irritated. Read more about the differences and how to use them on the skin oils page.

Frequently asked questions about Oils

What is the difference between MCT oil and skin oil?

MCT oil is a food supplement that you take, for example in your coffee or smoothie. Skin oil is a cosmetic: you only use it externally, on your skin, in your hair or on your eyebrows and lashes. So our castor oil is not meant to be swallowed.

Are GOYU's oils organic and vegan?

They are all vegan: 100% plant-based and made of a single ingredient. Our MCT oil, from organic coconuts, and our castor oil, from organic seeds, are organic.

What does cold-pressed mean?

That the oil is pressed mechanically from the seeds or kernels without adding heat. Our skin oils are cold-pressed. MCT oil is not pressed: only the C8 fatty acid (caprylic acid) is taken from coconut oil.

How much MCT oil can you use per day?

The label says 1 to 3 tablespoons a day. Start with a small amount, for example a teaspoon, and build up gradually. Taking too much at once can cause stomach or bowel discomfort.

How should you store oil?

In a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and close the bottle tightly after use. That is what the labels of our oils say. MCT oil can also go in the fridge: it stays liquid.
