More about Supplements for sports & muscles

Here you'll find supplements and superfoods for sport and muscles: products for which a claim on your muscle mass, your endurance or physical exertion applies. For each product we show word for word which claim that is. That way you know exactly what you're buying.

Which supplements suit sport?

Protein-rich superfoods such as spirulina, chlorella, moringa and cordyceps, plus maca, panax ginseng, tribulus and rhodiola. Below you'll find the exact claim for each product.

Endurance and exertion

Powder or capsules?

Stir powder into a shake or smoothie; capsules and tablets you take with a glass of water and don't taste. Cordyceps and moringa both come as an organic powder and as 500 mg capsules. If you combine, watch for overlap: Daily Greens already contains spirulina, chlorella and moringa, the Matcha Blend maca and rhodiola.

Before or after training?

There's no fixed moment. Most labels say "preferably during or just after a meal", so with breakfast or the meal after your workout. Examples: cordyceps capsules 1 to 2 once or twice a day, moringa powder 5 grams once a day. Don't use rhodiola for more than three months in a row.

Cordyceps, maca or shilajit: what's the difference?

  • Cordyceps is a mushroom with a mild, earthy taste, as an organic powder and 500 mg capsules.
  • Maca is the root of Lepidium meyenii from Peru, regular or black, as an organic powder and capsules.
  • Shilajit is a resin-like substance (Asphaltum punjabianum), as resin or capsules with 5% or 50% fulvic acid. You'll find it in our sports nutrition.

Electrolytes: when do you use them?

Often around exercise or on hot days. Electrolytes are minerals such as sodium and magnesium that you lose through sweat, among other things; most people already get enough salt from their food (Netherlands Nutrition Centre). Our lemon-flavoured electrolyte powder contains 137 mg of sodium and 56.3 mg of magnesium per daily dose of 6 grams. Read more in how to use electrolyte powder.
