Which supplements suit skin and hair?

Biotin and turmeric. Below you can see the claim that applies to each product.

  • Biotin capsules with 10,000 mcg biotin (vitamin B8): Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair** Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal skin**
  • Turmeric capsules and the curcumin 95% capsules: Turmeric contributes to the maintenance of healthy skin*

How much biotin is in one capsule?

One biotin capsule contains 10,000 mcg biotin (vitamin B8, also called B7). According to the label, you take 1 capsule a day with water, preferably during or just after a meal. Biotin also occurs naturally in foods such as eggs, nuts and legumes. What biotin is and how much you need per day is explained in biotin (vitamin B7).

Turmeric or curcumin?

Turmeric is the yellow root from the ginger family that you know from curry; curcumin is the substance that gives turmeric its colour. The turmeric capsules contain 600 mg organic turmeric with black pepper. The curcumin 95% capsules contain an extract with 95% curcuminoids, also with piperine. You take 1 capsule a day of either. Choose one of the two; the difference is explained in turmeric vs curcumin.

Supplement or skin oil: what is the difference?

A supplement is taken by mouth, a skin oil is for external use only. Castor oil is 100% pure, organic, cold-pressed oil from the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis). You apply a few drops to your face, hair or scalp. It is a cosmetic product, so no health claims apply. How to use it is explained in castor oil: what it is and how to use it.

What should you keep in mind?

You can use biotin and turmeric side by side. Choose one form of turmeric and stick to the daily dose on the pack for each product. Do not use the turmeric capsules if you have a bile duct disorder. According to the label, curcumin 95% is not for children or for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and is not recommended with anticoagulants, anticancer drugs or immunosuppressants, or with bile duct disorders. Piperine may affect medicines. Castor oil is for external use only: avoid contact with your eyes and stop if irritation occurs. Do you take medication? Talk to your doctor first.
