Product details
Yerba mate tea leaves
Our yerba mate consists of dried and finely ground leaves of Ilex paraguariensis, of organic origin. Yerba mate has a herbal, slightly bitter taste and is traditionally drunk from a gourd with a metal straw, the bombilla.
What is yerba mate?
Yerba mate is a traditional drink from South America, made from the leaves of a species of holly that grows in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and southern Brazil. In those countries, mate is more than tea: it is a social tradition. Friends and family share one gourd, which is refilled with hot water again and again and passed around. Yerba mate naturally contains caffeine.
Why GOYU yerba mate?
- Organic origin: organically grown leaves.
- Traditionally ground: suitable for the classic preparation with gourd and bombilla.
- Only yerba mate: no flavourings or other additives.
- 100% plant-based: suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
How do you make yerba mate?
Fill a gourd two-thirds full with yerba. Shake the leaves to one side so that a hollow forms on the other side. Pour a little cold water into the hollow and let it soak in briefly. Insert the bombilla into the hollow and add hot, not boiling, water. Drink the mate through the bombilla and keep topping it up.
